Sweet Lollapalooza, Edmonton, Alberta

The perfect hot chocolate.  Rich, dark cocoa, with a hint of chilies, so wonderful and warm.
You must head down to Commerce Place downtown Edmonton, and get a sample, or bring some home so you can make it just the way you like it.   I made it with almond milk, turned out very nicely.....

Parkallen Restaurant, Edmonton, Alberta

Heading south on 109th street. cute little restaurant. According to them, ""The Finest in Lebanese Cuisine".  Thats a pretty bold statement. The first thing you see when you walk in, is this gorgeous floor to ceiling, four glass walled wine room. Absolutely stunning. Its full of different wines and ages, i caught a glimpse of a 1956 from France....umm yum!!  I want one in my house.
Ok so we were seated, pretty modern looking, its nice.  I ordered a latte, which was sour, not sure if it was supposed to be sour, wasn't sure if they used goat milk or something.  You know how when you are in a foreign restaurant which does things differently, and with their own traditions, well this was one of those situations, so i didnt ask.
The way the menu works, is you choose a platter, which has a variety of things, such as Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, Falafel, Greek salad, wings, sausages, rice, beef and chicken skewers.  So depending on the platter, silver gold or platinum, you get more choices. however, 2 people have to order it, so when i went to order the platinum, the waitress said i wasn't aloud....it has to be ordered for two.  I look at the price, $40 per....so its $80 minimum for lunch...   Wow, ok so my brother changed his order and went in on the silver platter which is $30 per.  This better be good we both thought.
It comes out in these little dishes, every item seperate, which i like.  Everything was alright, hummus was good, but how can you go wrong with hummus? Baba Ganoush was good. wings were cold and tasteless, Falafel, quite dry. The sausages were 2" long, purple, tasted like all spice and chickpeas, not sure, it was different though. Greek salad was fine. Beef and chicken skewers with rice were probably the best thing, it came out late, but were nice and hot.
There are other choices on the menu, not just the platters. So if i were to venture back, i would go for dinner, and try something different. The wine room won me over, so perhaps thats whats keeping any interest....
